Well, it’s the beginning of a new year and that means it’s time to update my main web site, www.HallmanPhoto.com. So, after looking back at engagement sessions I shot in 2011, I decided to put some of those wonderful couples back on my blog… an encore, I guess. I’m heading upstate now for a great engagement session in downtown Greenville… can’t wait!

o.k.— I admit this one’s a little late, but better late than never! Aubrae and Timmy’s wedding took place in June near Rock Hill. My young photographer friend, Corey Potter, was Timmy’s best man, and I was honored to be asked to photograph the wedding & reception. It’s always fun working with Corey and Ashley Potter, and their friends are some of the sweetest and silliest people I know. Hope you enjoy seeing some of the images from this blessed day!

Misty and Kevin’s Engagement Session, by SC Engagement Photographer

You might remember seeing Misty and Kevin on my blog a couple months ago…. they won our 2012 Free Wedding Photography Package contest. I finally had a chance to meet Misty and Kevin face to face and get to know them a bit. They are an adorable couple, and I can tell it’s going to be a blast photographing their wedding in May! We got together earlier this month and did a quick engagement session around a game of Scrabble. Here are a few images from our time together…

Also, I wanted to share the “love story” that Misty wrote when she entered our contest, so here that is: “How we met: A crazy story that only shows that fate exists. In 2008, I was a hairstylist at a salon, while trying to complete my bachelors in Elementary Education, when a sweet woman came in for a hair cut. She showed me a picture of a hair style that she absolutely loved. I had no idea how to do it! So I politely asked the lady to wait for my manager to finish a client and she would be glad to help her. While she was waiting, I was talking to her about school and life when she randomly tells me, “You have to meet my son!”. He is 22 and you are perfect for him. Hesitant at first, I agreed. We went on a date to O’Charley’s that weekend and we have been inseparable ever since. To this day, I thank God for his sweet mother seeing something different in me and speaking up. We were engaged 6 months later and have been planning the wedding ever since! Our life will finally begin as one on May 12, 2012.”

Misty and Kevin are getting married on May 12, 2012 in Augusta, Georgia at Julian Smith Casino and Gazebo. When I first read the location, I thought “wow, a wedding at a casino… interesting!” Then, Misty explained that it’s not a gambling casino at all, but a beautiful park with a nice reception building. Apparently the word “casino” has origins other than gambling halls. You learn something new everyday!

I’m looking forward to their big day in May, and wish them and all of the couples that entered our contest the very best for 2012! And I wish all of my blog readers the very best for 2012 too!!

Congratulations to James and Christina following their September 3rd wedding at the beautiful venue 701 Whaley in Columbia. It was a pleasure photographing this wonderful couple, and I always love working with great wedding vendors such as Melanie Murphy of By Invitation Only Weddings & Events, Jonathan Ellis of Capital City Catering, and DJ Pierre. Not to mention, I do so love photographing at 701 Whaley in the Olympia Mills area of downtown Columbia. This historic building has such great character!

Well, it’s already September 30th, so that mean’s it’s the LAST DAY to enter our 2012 FREE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY PACKAGE CONTEST! Get your entry in by midnight tonight, September 30, 2011.

Enter by e-mailing your love story and wedding info to patty@HallmanPhoto.com. Include your names, wedding date and location, reception location, and a photo of you and your fiance together. Your love story can be anything from the story of how you met, how the proposal happened, or anything that tells us about how special you two are. Keep it short and sweet!

Only dates that we have available when voting ends are eligible for the contest. Finalists will be posted to this blog by October 10th and that’s when the voting starts. Votes will be tallied by individual comments posted indicating the couple the commenter is voting for. Only one comment per person/e-mail address. Extra votes can be gained for comments posted on our Hallman Photography Facebook page indicating who the vote is for. Again, one vote per person. Click the “more info” tab in the upper right corner of this blog to get to our Facebook page quickly. Voting via this blog and Facebook will end on October 31, 2011. The winning couple will be announced on the blog and Facebook page by November 10th.

If you’re planning a Hilton Head or other beach wedding, I would love to hear from you. In fact, I love beach wedding sooooo much that I ‘m willing to waive travel charges to get me there. So, come on, get in touch soon!

By the way, I hope Meghan and Chris are doing well since this wonderful beach wedding on Hilton Head Island. If you need a great wedding planner, get in touch with me and I’ll recommend some of the best I know, including Allison who planned this wedding.

Better late than never! I’m finally getting some images from Jennifer and Evan’s July 9th wedding at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lexington posted to my blog. St. Peter’s Lutheran is such a beautiful church. I just love the gray stonework of this church and the solid, sturdy look… a perfect foundation to build a perfect marriage foundation upon. Jennifer and Evan’s reception was held at Four O’ Three North Lake in Lexington. The band “Threshold” out of Charlotte played and they were fabulous! Look them up if you’re considering a live band for your reception.

Della and Keith’s Lexington Wedding and Riverbanks Botanical Gardens Reception, by SC wedding photographer

I’m a little behind schedule on posting weddings, but better late than never! Congrats to Della and Keith following their June 18th wedding in Lexington at Lexington Baptist Church. Here’s a first for me… both the bride and the groom are twins. Della has a fraternal twin brother, and Keith has an identical twin brother. That was a little tricky when I couldn’t tell the groom and his brother apart until I looked for the color of their tuxedo vests! The reception that evening was at the fabulous Riverbanks Botanical Gardens where the setting was beautiful, the food was delicious and the staff were top-notch. I’m looking forward to being back there soon!

Jennifer and Dustin’s O’Donnell House Wedding in Sumter, by SC Wedding Photographer

You may have seen these two faces previously on my blog… Jennifer and Dustin. I’ve photographed them a few times over the past couple years, but this was the big one… their wedding day! Jennifer is the sister of a former bride of mine, Vanessa, and Jenn picked an amazing venue for her wedding. The big day took place at the beautiful, historic O’Donnell House in Sumter, SC. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect backdrop or a more perfect afternoon and evening. Storm clouds cleared in time for the wedding and then a huge full moon capped off the night sky. Maybe a sign from above that this couple has help from above?! I like to think so!
