o.k.— I admit this one’s a little late, but better late than never! Aubrae and Timmy’s wedding took place in June near Rock Hill. My young photographer friend, Corey Potter, was Timmy’s best man, and I was honored to be asked to photograph the wedding & reception. It’s always fun working with Corey and Ashley Potter, and their friends are some of the sweetest and silliest people I know. Hope you enjoy seeing some of the images from this blessed day!

Misty and Kevin’s Engagement Session, by SC Engagement Photographer

You might remember seeing Misty and Kevin on my blog a couple months ago…. they won our 2012 Free Wedding Photography Package contest. I finally had a chance to meet Misty and Kevin face to face and get to know them a bit. They are an adorable couple, and I can tell it’s going to be a blast photographing their wedding in May! We got together earlier this month and did a quick engagement session around a game of Scrabble. Here are a few images from our time together…

Also, I wanted to share the “love story” that Misty wrote when she entered our contest, so here that is: “How we met: A crazy story that only shows that fate exists. In 2008, I was a hairstylist at a salon, while trying to complete my bachelors in Elementary Education, when a sweet woman came in for a hair cut. She showed me a picture of a hair style that she absolutely loved. I had no idea how to do it! So I politely asked the lady to wait for my manager to finish a client and she would be glad to help her. While she was waiting, I was talking to her about school and life when she randomly tells me, “You have to meet my son!”. He is 22 and you are perfect for him. Hesitant at first, I agreed. We went on a date to O’Charley’s that weekend and we have been inseparable ever since. To this day, I thank God for his sweet mother seeing something different in me and speaking up. We were engaged 6 months later and have been planning the wedding ever since! Our life will finally begin as one on May 12, 2012.”

Misty and Kevin are getting married on May 12, 2012 in Augusta, Georgia at Julian Smith Casino and Gazebo. When I first read the location, I thought “wow, a wedding at a casino… interesting!” Then, Misty explained that it’s not a gambling casino at all, but a beautiful park with a nice reception building. Apparently the word “casino” has origins other than gambling halls. You learn something new everyday!

I’m looking forward to their big day in May, and wish them and all of the couples that entered our contest the very best for 2012! And I wish all of my blog readers the very best for 2012 too!!

Better late than never! I’ve been meaning to get a sampling of images from Aimee and Jesh’s wedding posted to the blog, but it took me a while to find the time to do it! First let me say, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE photographing weddings at The Millstone at Adam’s Pond, so was so thrilled to be there again this year. I’m thrilled too that I’m already booked for 3 weddings there in 2012 and hope to book more. Kristy Polk and all of the staff with Southern Way Catering at Adam’s Pond are fantastic to work with. They take care of their brides and grooms like nobody’s business!

Aimee and Jesh are a wonderful Christian couple who walk the walk in their faith. Jesh is in the Army and was able to arrange for a vintage military truck (“Hercules”) to be their getaway car. I hear that “Hercules” was actually part of the battle at Normandy… very cool.

We did the majority of the bride & groom and family photos before the ceremony, so it was great having lots of time to get fabulous images for Jesh and Aimee. I always am delighted when my wedding clients agree to do a “First Look” where the bride and groom see each other for photos before the ceremony.

CeCe and Dwayne’s Engagement Session, by SC Engagement Photographer

I met with CeCe and Dwayne a few weeks ago for a Sunday afternoon engagement session at Horrell Hill Elementary School. This school hold’s a soft spot in their heart’s ….it’s where these two lovebirds met on the playground as kids. It took a while, but they crossed paths again during college and the rest is history! CeCe and Dwayne both played basketball on their highschool teams and wanted to recreate the movie poster from their favorite basketball lovestory, so we did that too. Sweet couple… can’t wait to photograph their wedding next year!

I don’t get too many chances to photograph weddings in castles, so when I got this booking, I couldn’t wait for Kelly and Kevin’s wedding day to get here! The couple traveled down from Washington, DC to have their wedding at Castle Ladyhawke in North Carolina. The castle is located about an hour west of Asheville, and not far from Cullowhee, NC. The castle setting was perfect for Kelley and Kevin’s intimate wedding with about 26 family members attending. Here are some selected images from the day and evening.

Michelle and Randall’s Wedding at Buck Ridge Plantation, by Orangeburg, SC Wedding Photographer

It was wonderful to be back at beautiful Buck Ridge Plantation in Neeses, SC near my hometown of Orangeburg last weekend. I hadn’t photographed at Buck Ridge in a couple years, so finally had a chance to see the newly added Edisto Manor…. my plantation dream home! The occasion was the wedding and reception for Michelle and Randall, and the weather was near perfect. I’ll be working on the proofs soon, but for now here are some previews for Michelle and Randall and you all to enjoy!

Jennifer and Dustin’s Engagement Session

I’m really looking forward to photographing Jennifer and Dustin’s wedding next April in Sumter. Jennifer’s sister Vanessa is one of my favorite brides from a couple years ago, so it was so good to hear that Jenn wanted me to photograph her wedding to Dustin next year. I got together recently with Jennifer, Dustin and their little dog Julio for a 50′s style engagement session in Camden.

Shoot Out… digital style.

I was asked to be one three featured photographers to participate in a “Shoot Out” this week for Professional Photographers of South Carolina. At first, I was hesitant to do it because I hate photographing when other professional photographers are watching. I’m always worrying that they’ll think, “what the heck is she doing?”! But I accepted the invitation and headed down to Mt. Pleasant Tuesday afternoon for the shoot out. Glad I did. It was great fun and quite a challenge at the same time. Each photographer was given 5 minutes to photograph our models, Whit and Cassie, outside The Red Roof Inn, then inside. The purpose of the exercise, was to see how each photographer handled the challenge of shooting in a less than picture perfect environment, with the pressures of little time and lots of eyes watching. Oh, by the way, each photographer was not allowed to watch the other photographers shoot. Didn’t want to give away any good ideas, to keep it as challenging for each of us. After we finished photographing, we then headed to Cindy Cantore’s studio to quickly edit our images and present a slideshow to the gathered photographers. I think I did a pretty good job.
