August 27th was the big day for Jessica and Stephen at The Mackey House in Savannah, Georgia. What a beautiful place for weddings! Even with humidity at about a million percent, and some little sprinkles of rain, the outdoor wedding ceremony was amazing. Jessica and Stephen are full of life and love for one another and that really showed on their faces. They even danced up the aisle when the ceremony was over. We had a great time photographing our bride and groom, their wedding party and family and friends. Here are a bunch of my favs from the start to to just before the reception started…

Dennise and Mitchell’s Wedding in Leesville, SC

After a 2 month break to recover from shoulder surgery, it was wonderful to get back to work photographing the wedding of Dennise and Mitchell in Leesville, SC. Everything went wonderfully, except the intense humidity and thunderstorms that hit just as the ceremony started. But, we all survived and the power stayed on… thank goodness! After post-ceremony photos at Oak Grove Baptist Church, we headed to T & S Farms near Leesville for a great reception with lots of dancing and food. Congrats, Dennise and Mitchell!

I was very happy when I got an e-mail from the editor at Carolina Bride Magazine saying they’d like to do a feature story on two of my recent weddings. Check out the latest issue of Carolina Bride, Summer/Fall 2010 issue, to see the feature story on sisters, DeAnna and Ashley Lewis’ weddings.

I photographed DeAnna’s wedding in December 2009 and Ashley’s wedding in May 2010. The whole Lewis family is wonderful to work with, and I look forward to photographing the youngest Lewis daughter’s wedding someday. Her dad says it won’t be any time soon!

Anne-Kathryn Flanagan did a wonderful job interviewing the sisters and writing the story. And of course, the story features lots of images shot by me during the weddings. Jennifer and Dustin’s Engagement Session

I’m really looking forward to photographing Jennifer and Dustin’s wedding next April in Sumter. Jennifer’s sister Vanessa is one of my favorite brides from a couple years ago, so it was so good to hear that Jenn wanted me to photograph her wedding to Dustin next year. I got together recently with Jennifer, Dustin and their little dog Julio for a 50’s style engagement session in Camden.

You can’t go wrong with a wedding or reception at The Millstone at Adam’s Pond, so I was so excited when I met Suzie and Michael and booked their May 28th wedding a few months ago. This is one of my top picks for locations and for caterers, Southern Way Catering. The location at Adam’s Pond is beautiful with rustic elegance, and the Southern Way staff and food can’t be beat. Shoot Out… digital style.

I was asked to be one three featured photographers to participate in a “Shoot Out” this week for Professional Photographers of South Carolina. At first, I was hesitant to do it because I hate photographing when other professional photographers are watching. I’m always worrying that they’ll think, “what the heck is she doing?”! But I accepted the invitation and headed down to Mt. Pleasant Tuesday afternoon for the shoot out. Glad I did. It was great fun and quite a challenge at the same time. Each photographer was given 5 minutes to photograph our models, Whit and Cassie, outside The Red Roof Inn, then inside. The purpose of the exercise, was to see how each photographer handled the challenge of shooting in a less than picture perfect environment, with the pressures of little time and lots of eyes watching. Oh, by the way, each photographer was not allowed to watch the other photographers shoot. Didn’t want to give away any good ideas, to keep it as challenging for each of us. After we finished photographing, we then headed to Cindy Cantore’s studio to quickly edit our images and present a slideshow to the gathered photographers. I think I did a pretty good job. Shericka and Kevin’s Wedding

Well, it’s taken me a while to get back to blogging, but better late than never!

Congrats to Shericka and Kevin following their April 10th wedding at 301 Whaley in Columbia.

It was a beautiful day for a wedding on the deck at 301, and we followed the ceremony with photos at the SC Statehouse.

Emotions flowed for both Shericka and Kevin, and no one could doubt that these two are truly in love.

Best wishes you two for a wonderful future together!
