WNOK Bridal Show Success!, by Columbia SC Wedding Photographer

Thank you to all the brides and grooms-to-be who stopped by my booth this past Sunday at the WNOK Bridal Showcase at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. The show was huge success with over 1200 people through the doors and over 450 brides registered. I always look forward to bridal shows, even though it’s a LOT of work getting ready for them, and my feet are always soooo tired after them! Shoshanna and Dontae’s Columbia, SC wedding & reception, by SC wedding photographer

On a chilly late October Saturday morning, we headed to the SC Statehouse for pre-ceremony photos for Shoshanna and Dontae’s wedding. I always LOVE photographing there, especially before weddings, so even though my fingers and toes were numb from the cold, I had a great time. We started off with a “first look” with Shoshanna and Dontae, which is always so sweet to photograph. After we wrapped up the pre-ceremony session, we headed to Seawell’s for the ceremony and reception. Kudos to wedding planner Shannon Baker Jones for doing an amazing job as always and being such a pleasure to work with. Shannon makes weddings and receptions look incredible and I’m always excited to photograph her weddings and events.

Audrae and Timmy’s Wedding in Rock Hill, SC, by SC Wedding Photographer

o.k.— I admit this one’s a little late, but better late than never! Aubrae and Timmy’s wedding took place in June near Rock Hill. My young photographer friend, Corey Potter, was Timmy’s best man, and I was honored to be asked to photograph the wedding & reception. It’s always fun working with Corey and Ashley Potter, and their friends are some of the sweetest and silliest people I know. Hope you enjoy seeing some of the images from this blessed day!

In memory of Lee Hinton

Last week I did something I hope I’ll never have to do again. I attended the funeral of one of my wedding clients. Lee Hinton passed away on December 18th, far too young and only 18 months after his wedding to beautiful bride, Dana Jackson. I’ll never forget photographing Lee and Dana’s wedding in May of 2010 at The Lace House on the Governor’s Grounds in Columbia. It was so hot and humid that day, but despite that Lee had the biggest smile of any groom I’ve ever seen. And I remember how sweet Lee and his parents were to me that day… it made such a lasting impression on me. I am still so sad about Lee’s passing and hope that my gift of a framed 16×20 canvas portrait of Lee that I brought to his memorial service will help Dana and the Hinton family remember how amazing Lee’s smile was each and every day. God bless you, Lee. You are missed by so many and I will always remember your smile.

Aimee and Jesh’s Wedding at The Millstone at Adam’s Pond, by Columbia SC Wedding Photographer

Better late than never! I’ve been meaning to get a sampling of images from Aimee and Jesh’s wedding posted to the blog, but it took me a while to find the time to do it! First let me say, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE photographing weddings at The Millstone at Adam’s Pond, so was so thrilled to be there again this year. I’m thrilled too that I’m already booked for 3 weddings there in 2012 and hope to book more. Kristy Polk and all of the staff with Southern Way Catering at Adam’s Pond are fantastic to work with. They take care of their brides and grooms like nobody’s business!

Aimee and Jesh are a wonderful Christian couple who walk the walk in their faith. Jesh is in the Army and was able to arrange for a vintage military truck (“Hercules”) to be their getaway car. I hear that “Hercules” was actually part of the battle at Normandy… very cool.

We did the majority of the bride & groom and family photos before the ceremony, so it was great having lots of time to get fabulous images for Jesh and Aimee. I always am delighted when my wedding clients agree to do a “First Look” where the bride and groom see each other for photos before the ceremony.

I’m really behind on updating my blog with weddings, engagements and sessions over the past few months, so am trying to get at least of few images up every couple days.

Here’s a montage from Paige and Ryan’s recent wedding at Christ Chapel located at Columbia’s Lutheran Seminary, and their reception at The River Road and Jasmine House and Gardens near Lake Murray. Congrats, Paige and Ryan!

Jenn and Chris’ Wedding at Riverbanks Botanical Gardens, by Columbia SC Wedding Photographer

I always love going to Riverbanks Zoo and Botanical Gardens, especially to photograph a wedding, so it was great to be there photographing on September 23rd for Jenn and Chris’ wedding and reception. It was a rainy day, but we got lucky and the rain was over before things got started. I would have loved 3o more minutes of daylight to work with after the ceremony, but then again, that’s not a new wish for me! The Botanical Gardens are such a beautiful setting and the Riverbanks staff does an incredibly great job with weddings, receptions and events there. I highly recommend them!

Couple #1: Danielle and Korey

Danielle and Korey are getting married on June 23, 2012 at the Columbia Conference Center. They met on May 31, 2009 at Clear Pond near Danielle’s home in Bamberg, SC.

Korey, who is from Florida, was there visiting his cousins and spotted Danielle on a dock. He swam over and struck up a conversation. After a two year long-distance relationship, Korey planned a surprise proposal and popped the question on May 31, 2011 at Clear Pond. Everyone but Danielle was in on it, and Korey’s parent even videotaped the whole proposal!

Couple #2: Keshia and Terrance

Keshia and Terrance are getting married on September 9, 2012 at The Mitchell House and Gardens in Lexington, SC.

Keshia and Terrance met at Fort Jackson where both work in health-related fields. Keshia says Terrance would always stop by her office door for a little chit chat and try to find a good way to ask her out on a date. They enjoy sitting at home and watching movies together, as well as reading and working out. They have an adorable brown eyed Shih Tzu named Snickers and plan to build a home and create a beautiful family together.

Couple #3: Misty and Kevin

Misty and Kevin are getting married on May 12, 2012 in Augusta, Georgia at the Julian Smith Gazebo and Casino at Lake Olmstead Park.

Misty says that how they met proves that fate exists. In 2008, Misty was a hairstylist at a salon while working on her bachelors in Elementary Education. One day a lady came in for a hair cut and after talking a while said “You have to meet my son!”. Hesitant at first, Misty finally agreed and after one date, Misty and Kevin have been inseparable.

Congratulations to James and Christina following their September 3rd wedding at the beautiful venue 701 Whaley in Columbia. It was a pleasure photographing this wonderful couple, and I always love working with great wedding vendors such as Melanie Murphy of By Invitation Only Weddings & Events, Jonathan Ellis of Capital City Catering, and DJ Pierre. Not to mention, I do so love photographing at 701 Whaley in the Olympia Mills area of downtown Columbia. This historic building has such great character!
