Thank you to all the brides and grooms-to-be who stopped by my booth this past Sunday at the WNOK Bridal Showcase at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. The show was huge success with over 1200 people through the doors and over 450 brides registered. I always look forward to bridal shows, even though it’s a LOT of work getting ready for them, and my feet are always soooo tired after them! In memory of Lee Hinton

Last week I did something I hope I’ll never have to do again. I attended the funeral of one of my wedding clients. Lee Hinton passed away on December 18th, far too young and only 18 months after his wedding to beautiful bride, Dana Jackson. I’ll never forget photographing Lee and Dana’s wedding in May of 2010 at The Lace House on the Governor’s Grounds in Columbia. It was so hot and humid that day, but despite that Lee had the biggest smile of any groom I’ve ever seen. And I remember how sweet Lee and his parents were to me that day… it made such a lasting impression on me. I am still so sad about Lee’s passing and hope that my gift of a framed 16×20 canvas portrait of Lee that I brought to his memorial service will help Dana and the Hinton family remember how amazing Lee’s smile was each and every day. God bless you, Lee. You are missed by so many and I will always remember your smile.

Couple #1: Danielle and Korey

Danielle and Korey are getting married on June 23, 2012 at the Columbia Conference Center. They met on May 31, 2009 at Clear Pond near Danielle’s home in Bamberg, SC.

Korey, who is from Florida, was there visiting his cousins and spotted Danielle on a dock. He swam over and struck up a conversation. After a two year long-distance relationship, Korey planned a surprise proposal and popped the question on May 31, 2011 at Clear Pond. Everyone but Danielle was in on it, and Korey’s parent even videotaped the whole proposal!

Couple #2: Keshia and Terrance

Keshia and Terrance are getting married on September 9, 2012 at The Mitchell House and Gardens in Lexington, SC.

Keshia and Terrance met at Fort Jackson where both work in health-related fields. Keshia says Terrance would always stop by her office door for a little chit chat and try to find a good way to ask her out on a date. They enjoy sitting at home and watching movies together, as well as reading and working out. They have an adorable brown eyed Shih Tzu named Snickers and plan to build a home and create a beautiful family together.

Couple #3: Misty and Kevin

Misty and Kevin are getting married on May 12, 2012 in Augusta, Georgia at the Julian Smith Gazebo and Casino at Lake Olmstead Park.

Misty says that how they met proves that fate exists. In 2008, Misty was a hairstylist at a salon while working on her bachelors in Elementary Education. One day a lady came in for a hair cut and after talking a while said “You have to meet my son!”. Hesitant at first, Misty finally agreed and after one date, Misty and Kevin have been inseparable.

Well, it’s already September 30th, so that mean’s it’s the LAST DAY to enter our 2012 FREE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY PACKAGE CONTEST! Get your entry in by midnight tonight, September 30, 2011.

Enter by e-mailing your love story and wedding info to patty@HallmanPhoto.com. Include your names, wedding date and location, reception location, and a photo of you and your fiance together. Your love story can be anything from the story of how you met, how the proposal happened, or anything that tells us about how special you two are. Keep it short and sweet!

Only dates that we have available when voting ends are eligible for the contest. Finalists will be posted to this blog by October 10th and that’s when the voting starts. Votes will be tallied by individual comments posted indicating the couple the commenter is voting for. Only one comment per person/e-mail address. Extra votes can be gained for comments posted on our Hallman Photography Facebook page indicating who the vote is for. Again, one vote per person. Click the “more info” tab in the upper right corner of this blog to get to our Facebook page quickly. Voting via this blog and Facebook will end on October 31, 2011. Beach Portrait Week! July 24-31 at Edisto Beach, by SC Beach Photographer

We’re booking now for beach portraits at Edisto Beach (between Charleston and Beaufort) for the week of July 24-31, 2011. No session fee if booked by July 17th and print packages start at $95.

This is a perfect opportunity to have beautiful portraits done of families, brides, couples, children, pets, etc. If you’ve ever been to Edisto Beach, you know how awesome the island is. We can even do portrait sessions along the marsh and moss-covered tree lined roads. I’m envisioning some great print competition images to come from the week there with my cameras!

My work goes international! — PPA Print Competition results are in!

The PPA (Professional Photographers of America) International Print Competition results for 2011 are in! I’m thrilled to announce that two of my print entries were accepted into the Loan Collection and the General Collection. They’ll be on display at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana on January 15-17, 2012 during Imaging USA, PPA’s annual convention. Only the best of the best are selected for the esteemed Loan Collection, so I’m extra happy about that honor. “En Pointe” is the title of my image selected for the Loan Collection and it will be published in the 2011 Loan Collection book later this year.
